It was a real privilege to be a part of The Social Buzz Awards 2017!

Showcasing some of the best in the social media word, it brings together individuals and companies at the forefront of social media who are the best in their industry. By rewarding effective social media campaigns and strategies, these awards give recognition to those who are using social media to communicate in exciting and innovative ways.

The awards are open internationally to any individual, agency, company, brand or organisation.

Being asked to be a judge of the awards was a total honour, surrounded by some of the biggest names in the business it felt a real opportunity to network and discuss social with those who play with it daily.

I was sat alongside judges from Disney, Buzzfeed, Microsoft, ITV and Shell – to name just a few.

Going through each category, we discussed the pros and cons of each campaign, the value returned to the client plus the true value of the overall activation.

Whilst some of the biggest brands had entered, I felt it important to step away from the budgets of each campaign and look at the real results and return on investment for a client.

Just because it had a $250,000+ budget didn’t necessarily mean it performed the best and throwing money at a bad creative still makes it a dull watch!

We judged the entrants based on the follow categories; Evidence of clear strategic thinking, Innovation, Tangible results, Proof of effectiveness and Creativity.

It was a fantastic opportunity – thanks to The Drum for inviting me to judge and the brilliant day I had collectively deciding the winners!
